FAQs

  • Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained, and improved. Physical dysfunction, pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of massage therapy.

Registered massage therapy is regulated under the “Regulated Health Professions Act” (RHPA), which means that in Ontario you must complete a minimum number of hours of training at an accredited school, then you must pass board-wide practical and written examinations. Once registered, therapists must keep in good standings with our College and completing continuing education courses to maintain their status and keep their skills current.

All of our therapists are registered with the CMTO (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario).

  • Each therapist is different in their technique, but there are a few things to know beforehand so you can enjoy your appointment.

    1. Be sure to hydrate before and after your massage. Massage stimulates circulation and removal of waste from the muscles. To properly facilitate the flushing process, you’ll want to have a lot of water in the body. Massages also dehydrate your muscles, so it is best to hydrate following the treatment as well.

    2. Be open about what you want. To get the best massage possible, be sure to tell your RMT about any specific areas that are giving you trouble so they can address injuries or do spot treatments.

  • Direct billing is only available for Blue Cross/RCMP and Veteran’s Affairs.
